5 Times The Woke Left Changed Dictionary Definitions

It’s old news that the Left wages war on words and uses language as tools to push a political agenda, which causes mass confusion and continued divisiveness.  The pronoun game, where they make up words like ze and zir and call men “her” and women “him” are the main culprits.  Official definitions are always struggling to keep up with what the furthest Leftist extremists want the words to be.  Here are just a few examples of official definitions that change on the whims of the Left

The Anti-Defamation League used to be an advocacy group on behalf of Jewish people who experience anti-Semitism.  Since the ascension of Jonathan Greenblatt as its National Director and CEO, it has become a tool of the Left.  Nothing exemplified that more than during the Black Lives Matter Riots, they quietly changed their definition of “racism.”

“Racism”, according to the ADL, is “The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people.”  According to this definition, it is impossible for white people to experience racism.

Merriam-Websters went along with this as well, saying at the time that the definition of “racism” was insufficient and that other words “related to racism or have racial connotations” would also be updated, without specifying which ones. “We apologise for the harm and offense we have caused in failing to address this issue sooner,” the editor wrote.

This falls in line with classic Leftist thinking, which views racism as not simply “hatred of another race” or the feeling of superiority over another race simply because of race, rather it is a power struggle between people with power and people without power.  As the greatest race hustler of our time, Ibram X Kendi, writes, “Racism is powerful collection of racist policies (any measure that produces or sustains racial inequity between racial groups) that lead to racial inequity (when different racial groups do not share the same level of power in a society) and are substantiated by racist ideas (any idea that suggests one racial group is inferior or superior to another racial group in any way. Racist ideas argue that the inferiorities and superiorities of racial groups explain racial inequities in society. There is no such thing as a not-racist idea, only racist ideas and antiracist ideas.)

Confused yet?  That’s the point.  The ADL was trying to take the easy way out, and accidentally just exposed what the Left really thinks – only white people can be racist.

While the woke Left constantly screams that there is a difference between “sex” and “gender”, they regularly interchange the two.  So when they say that “woman” refers to gender and “female” refers to sex, they are lying to have the appearance of consistency to stop the argument.

Merriam-Webster took it upon themselves to make an addition to the word “female” earlier this year, which includes “having a gender identity that is the opposite of male.”  In case that was confusing, under male, the definition is “having a gender identity opposite of female.”

So the terms for sex include within them the terms for gender, thus nullifying the argument completely.

This may have been the fastest change in dictionary history.  When Maize Hirono, Senator from Hawaii, accused then-Supreme Court nominee of using offensive language regarding the term “sexual preference”, Merriem-Webster’s sprung to action to change the definition of the word “preference.”

The “issue” with the term sexual “preference” is that it implies choice, when Maize Hirono claims there is no choice.  Despite this notion being in opposition with logic, science, and simple common sense, the dictionary added the “offensive” label to the definition.

After the massive success of Matt Walsh’s documentary “What is a Woman?”, the question has become prevalent in questioning the woke ideology.  It was asked to then-Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, to no response.  No member of the Democratic Party seems to be able to definitively say that men cannot get pregnant.  So it’s no surprise the Cambridge Dictionary just updated its definition of woman to include, “an adult who live and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth.”

And what is a “female”?  Well, as seen above, it the opposite of a male.  And what is a male?  The opposite of a female.

Round and Round the carousel goes, all the way to crazy town.

Dictionary.com bragged that it made its biggest ever changes in definitions in 2020.  According to NPR, “Another dictionary-wide change replaces references to “homosexual” with “gay, gay man or gay woman,” and references to “homosexuality” with “gay sexual orientation.” The company said these updates were informed by recommendations from the organization GLAAD, and affect more than 50 entries. It has also refined the definitions for a number of other words related to LGBTQ identity, such as asexual, deadname, Pride and themself.”

GLAAD is a radical leftwing organization that works tirelessly to insert “queer” characters into every tv show or movie.  Ever wonder why nameless background characters are all suddenly gay?  That’s GLAAD.  That’s who the Dictionary is listening to when it comes to language in our culture.  The most prevalent of the all the changes made is the word “they”, which always referred to multiple people, but now Dictionary.com says is a “nominative singular pronoun”

Not to get too Biblical, but there’s a reason why all it took to destroy the civilization that built the Tower of Babel was to simply have them speaking different languages.  If we can’t understand each other, we are lost.

Apparently the dictionary is happy to help pave the way to our own doom.
