Over the weekend, history repeated itself yet again when the mainstream media and the democrats exploded over a Trump tweet. The trending topics quickly became #RacistInChief and #RacistPresident. Trump’s tweets, however, were not nearly as racist as the garbage spewed by Representative Ayanna Pressley (a.k.a. the ‘Ringo Starr’ of ‘The Squad’ led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) over at Netroots Nation, the annual conference of radical leftism. Of course, in terms of media coverage, actual racism by a leftist pales in comparison to imagined racism by President Trump.
Trump was ripped up and down for criticizing other members of ‘The Squad’, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. For full context, here is the complete tweet thread that is receiving so much attention.
So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!
Analyzing this statement, it is difficult to find the racism. Ilhan Omar was a refugee of Somalia. Rashida Tlaib is Palestinian-American. Are these considered “functional” governments according to the left? If so, that may be racist, but they are not considered “functional”, so its an accurate statement. Maybe the racism is with the phrase “our government”? What is the ‘correct’ usage? “Their” government? It doesn’t belong to anyone, it is ours. So that is inherently correct.
Perhaps the racism is coming from “why don’t they go back”? Sure, telling people to go back to where they happily claim they are from (Omar and Tlaib are always referring to themselves by their country of origin, Somali-American and Palestinian-American respectively). Is Presdent Trump advocating kicking people out of the country when they bash the country on a regular basis? Obviously not, because his next sentence is “come back and show us how its done”.
Trump is obviously saying that these representatives have terrible ideas, if their ideas were so good they can test them out on the countries they clearly have a connection to, as they classify themselves that way. Instead they, or their parents, came to the United States, and they become wealthy, famous lawmakers in a country that they are constantly maligning.
If these same congresswomen were the children of Russian refugees (and therefore white), and Trump said the exact same thing, would that be considered racist? Or is it only racist because the women he is talking about happened to be women of color (as they refer to themselves)? Don’t forget, it was these same women who called Nancy Pelosi racist for daring to criticize them.
Compare this statement with the one made by Ayanna Pressley at Netroots Nation.
I don’t want to bring a chair to an old table. This is the time to shake the table. This is the time to redefine that table. Because if you’re going to come to this table, all of you who have aspirations of running for office. If you’re not prepared to come to that table and represent that voice, don’t come, because we don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice. We don’t need Muslims that don’t want to be a Muslim voice. We don’t need queers that don’t want to be a queer voice. If you’re worried about being marginalized and stereotyped, please don’t even show up because we need you to represent that voice.
She is clearly saying that if you have a certain skin color, religion, or sexual orientation, you are only welcome if you say certain things. She said this to wild applause by the thousands-strong crowd.
Is there any question that this is pure racism and bigotry? If you belong to a certain group you must speak and act a certain way? That is not only accepted, that’s cheered by the radical left?
The hypocrisy is astounding. Republicans and moderates shouldn’t fall for the narrative or the spin. Look at the actual statements, and you’ll see who the true bigots are.
