MOSHE HILL OPINION COLUMNS SEPTEMBER 20 2023
The walls are closing in around Joe Biden as bombshell after bombshell hit him, his administration, and his family. In the last week, an impeachment inquiry was opened, his son was indicted, he capitulated to Iran, and he’s been worse than ever on the stump. His general election poll numbers have flatlined to the point that former President Donald Trump is ahead of him in the Real Clear Politics polling average. Will Democrats try to get Biden out and put someone else in?
We know that Democrats have zero respect for the democratic process. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is being accused by Biden challenger Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. of rigging the primary vote to make it impossible for any challenger to Biden to get any delegates, regardless of how many votes he earns. “So, two of the things they’ve done today is they’ve moved the Iowa primary, they made rules that if anybody campaigns in Iowa, or any candidate sets foot in the State of Iowa or sets foot in the State of New Hampshire, then none of the votes that are cast for that candidate will be tallied,” said RFK Jr. “In other words, any delegate that I win in New Hampshire or Iowa would go instead to the president. Now they’re trying to change it so that if I campaign in New Hampshire, that none of the votes cast for me in Georgia will count. That’s significant because it’s hard to win the nomination without Georgia.” RFK Jr. claims that between the new rules and the superdelegates, “I would have to win almost 80 percent of all of the states in order to beat President Biden even if he only wins 20 percent.”
While the Republican primary process has been a knockout brawl with one clear frontrunner and a bevy of challengers fighting over the scraps, there has at least been a democratic process for Republican voters to choose their candidate. The irony in the Democrat Party, which campaigns on every election being the last stand for democracy, not allowing a democratic process in their own primary, is richer than Elon Musk and Bill Gates combined.
All of this is to benefit Joe Biden, who has just had an impeachment inquiry opened against him because of the mountain of evidence that alleges that he has personally and financially benefited by abusing his power to enrich his family. Between the texts, the bank records, the email aliases, the eyewitness testimony, the on-camera confessions and cover-ups, there’s more than enough evidence to impeach Biden in the House. Remember, impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. The Democrats impeached Trump twice without alleging a crime.
Then there’s Hunter, who was just indicted on the one charge that could not be directly linked to his father. This is more evidence of collusion and coverup by Merrick Garland and the DOJ than it is proof that they are trying to pursue justice. Hunter was indicted on a gun charge in Delaware for lying on a gun application form and tossing a gun in the trash near a school, which also hints to a larger scandal of the Secret Service covering up for him. It will be hilarious when his lawyers put up a Second Amendment defense while his father is trying to dismantle the very same Amendment.
Biden is also clearly losing his mind (if he hasn’t already lost it). His speech in Vietnam would be laughable if he weren’t in charge of America’s nuclear arsenal. Between admitting that he’s not allowed to take questions by his handlers or announcing that he’s “going to bed,” the remarks went so poorly that his microphone got cut off by White House staff. The next day he lied about going to Ground Zero the day after 9/11, and a couple days later he said the African Americans and Hispanics are “the workers without high school diplomas.” That gaffe was so insane that the White House changed the official transcript.
Biden is clearly a liability for the Democrats, but what choice do they have? His Vice President is Kamala Harris, who has an even lower approval rating than her boss. Defenders will claim this is because of her skin color or gender, but it’s more likely because every time she speaks it sounds like she’s on her third glass of Chardonnay and was asked to give an impromptu toast. Then there’s Gavin Newsom, who’s waiting to take his abysmal record as Governor of California and make it a national platform. No other contenders to Biden are even giving hints at wanting to jump into a race should Biden be tossed aside.
So, the Democrats are stuck, as are the American people. Even though Biden is incredibly unpopular, corrupt, and senile, he’s still running against Donald Trump. No one brings out the Democratic vote like Trump does, and his lead in polling is not commanding enough to make Biden sweat too much. Unless Trump somehow manages to exceed the polling differential, the Dems have no need to throw Biden aside. They don’t care about the future of the country; they have their puppet in the Oval Office, and that’s fine with them.
