MOSHE HILL OPINION COLUMNS APRIL 26 2023
There used to be a time when the policy differences between the two major parties could be solved with debate and compromise. Things like tax rates, healthcare, entitlements, and dozens of other topics could be argued, with hardliners on either side but deals being struck. Even with the division in the country, even if nothing gets passed and no unity is available, with each side becoming more and more entrenched, the issues themselves could be seen by the voting public as something that could be debated. This is not true with the most fundamental cultural totem in our society today: the fundamental truth about human biological facts.
Does a Democrat exist in this country who could say with certainty if a man could become pregnant? Is there any elected representative with a D next to his or her name on the local, state, or federal level who could define the word “woman”? The notion that this is a controversial topic that should be sidestepped or that it is a third-rail issue like restructuring social security or Medicare would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic.
The House of Representatives recently passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023, a piece of legislation that seeks to ban male athletes who identify as females from participating in women’s sports leagues. The bill amends Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, ensuring that recipients of federal financial assistance who operate sports leagues do not allow males to participate in women’s athletic programs or activities.
The legislation passed along party lines, with 219 affirmative votes, all of which came from Republicans, while 203 negative votes came from Democrats. Democrats claimed that the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act is discriminatory in nature. Rep. Nancy Pelosi opposed the bill, arguing that “trans kids are all G-d’s children” and belong “in sports, in schools, in books, in families, and on teams.” The White House also issued a veto notice, clarifying that President Joe Biden would oppose the legislation, stating that “discrimination has no place in our nation’s schools or on our playing fields.”
Title IX was created to protect women’s sports to ensure that women have as much funding for their teams as men do. Now, in the half century since its passing, it’s discriminatory to not allow men to compete against women, in some cases in extremely physical competitions like mixed martial arts. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, who is in charge of enforcing Title IX, cannot answer what a woman even is. When asked three times during a congressional hearing, he gave no answer, and referred to Health and Human Services to answer the simple question. “Our focus at the department is to provide equal access to students, including students who are LGBTQ, access free from discrimination,” Cardona replied.
You would be hard-pressed to find an elected Democrat on any level who could answer this very simple question. Then-Supreme Court Nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson infamously couldn’t answer it during her confirmation hearing. The congressional record is filled with members referring to women as “birthing persons” during a variety of hearings. When Dylan Mulvaney, the male trans-identified social media personality, was interviewing Joe Biden (which is, in and of itself, indicative of the clown show that our federal government has become), he proclaimed that he was in his journey to become a woman, to which Biden celebratorily replied, “G-d love ya.”
In fact, Biden has no problem perverting religion and invoking it as he sees fit. While many Republican-led states are pushing for legislation to protect women and children from this ideology, Biden is releasing video messages on so-called “International Transgender Day of Visibility.” “To everyone celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, I want you to know that your president sees you — Jill, Kamala, Doug, our entire administration sees you — for who you are: made in the image of G-d and deserving of dignity, respect and support,” Biden said. If Biden would have finished the verse, he would have said, “And G-d created humankind in the divine image, creating it in the image of G-d—creating them male and female (Breishit 1:27). The end of the verse does not conform with the Democratic agenda, so Biden simply skips it.
“We know it’s hard when there are those out there who don’t see you, don’t respect you,” the president added. “For example, the onslaught of anti-transgender state laws attacking you and your families is simply wrong.”
Let’s see which laws are more “wrong.” In Tennessee, for instance, a law was passed that caused the media to melt down and for leftist protesters to storm the Capitol. The law stated that children cannot be taken to burlesque shows and that doctors cannot perform body mutilation surgery on minors. Compare that to Washington State, where a law passed that said that parents do not need to be notified if a runaway child is seeking gender-change surgery.
Laws like these two are small examples of the chasm between red and blue states. Red states are doing what they can to protect children from making mistakes that could ruin their lives for the same reasons states have restrictions on smoking, drinking, gambling, or getting tattoos. Blue states are allowing the same youngsters who think it’s a good idea to eat Tide pods on camera to get radical surgeries that will leave them sterile and scarred for life.
Any Democrat who cannot answer what a woman is, or if a man could get pregnant, is an extremist – don’t be fooled into believing otherwise. There are arguments that can be made about the tax code, guns, school choice, healthcare, and dozens of other policy differences between Republicans and Democrats. This is not one of them. If you are going along with this insanity, you are an extremist. That is 100% of the Democrat Party at this point. The Moderate Democrat is a species on the brink of extinction.
